We think the best way into a language is a good story.

Lingostry started with a simple frustration: apps taught us words, but we still couldn't read a page.

Why we built it

We moved countries, took the courses and collected streaks. We could order a coffee and name every fruit, but a short newspaper article still felt like a wall.

What finally worked was reading. Simple stories at first, with a dictionary open in another tab, then longer ones. Every page taught words in context, and the grammar started to make sense on its own.

Lingostry is that method without the other tab. Stories written for your level, help on every word, and a review system that brings back what you saved. It is built for students, travellers and people with full-time jobs who have ten minutes, not two hours.

What we believe

  • Reading comes first

You understand a language long before you speak it. Stories give you thousands of real sentences, and speaking grows out of them.

  • Help, not hand-holding

A translation is always one tap away, but never forced on you. Guessing from context is how words stick.

  • Short beats heroic

Every story fits into a coffee break. We would rather you read ten minutes every day than two hours once.

  • Worth reading on its own

If a story is boring in your own language, it doesn't belong in our library. We write for curiosity first.
